As I Have Loved You
About the Song
As I Have Loved You was arranged in response to our Stake President’s request that all special numbers and choir numbers strictly be hymns. It was odd, because I was under the impression that songs published in Church magazines were appropriate for use in Church meetings. But, since it had to be a hymn for conference, I wrote this SSA arrangement.
It was pretty funny that I had barely stated, to my sisters, out of frustration, “If the only songs we are permitted to use for special numbers are hymns, then we need a new hymnbook”! And, just one month later, President Russell M. Nelson announced the production of a new hymnbook!
I later arranged the trio into a children’s arrangement, understanding that children might enjoy singing a familiar song in a new way.
