A Heart Like Thine

My Ward Relief Society President asked me to read the book by Virginia H. Pearce, President Hinckley’s daughter, titled A Heart Like His. She wondered if I might be inspired from the ideas in the book to write a song for our Relief Society sisters to sing. I was indeed inspired by the book. It helped me to see the importance of not only serving others, but also allowing others to serve us when we are having a difficult time. It always seems easier to give than to be on the receiving end. But, Sister Pearce’s writing helped me see the need for both. After reading and understanding, I wrote, A Heart Like Thine.

The original song was written in SSA for the Relief Society sisters. I later arranged it as a hymn in order that perhaps it might reach a wider audience.
